Mad about monkeys, or know someone who is?

Why not (virtually) adopt one of the amazing black and gold howler monkeys living in Pilar? By adopting a monkey, you’ll help us protect this incredible species.

Why monkeys need your help

Deforestation and urbanisation threaten primate species worldwide. The black and gold howler monkeys in Pilar are no exception. The IUCN Red List classifies this special species as near threatened, despite seeming to be well-adapted to human impact. Due to habitat loss, the population has declined by a third in the last three generations. The physical proximity to humans also makes this species particularly susceptible to disease outbreaks, such as yellow fever.

Help Para La Tierra to protect the unique black and gold howler monkeys in the town of Pilar and its surrounding wetlands by adopting a monkey today.

Important Information

Adoptions are purely symbolic. These monkeys are wild animals. They may share their environment with humans but they have no contact with us. We do not capture, tag or interfere with the monkeys in any way.

Refunds are not available, except when an error has been made by Para La Tierra. If your adopted monkey dies during the adoption year, we’ll give you an option to adopt another monkey for the remaining term.

At the end of one year we’ll email you with options to continue your adoption.

If you are buying a monkey adoption as a gift, please provide us with contact information for the gift recipient, if you wish the certificate, photograph and updates to be sent directly to them.

There is no limit to the number of monkeys you can adopt, or the number of people who can adopt a particular monkey. Placing limits would significantly restrict the amount of funds we are able to raise to support primate conservation.

We cannot guarantee that you will be able to see your adopted monkey, or any monkeys, if you visit us in Pilar.

We won’t share your personal information with any third parties.
